Privilege Escalation in SELinux Policy Package Affects Authentication Mechanism
CVE-2020-24612

6.7MEDIUM

Key Information:

Vendor
CVE Published:
24 August 2020

Summary

A vulnerability exists in the SELinux Policy Package, specifically related to pam-u2f's interaction with the user's U2F configuration file stored in the .config/Yubico directory. When SELinux is running in enforced mode, pam-u2f may be unable to access the U2F configuration file due to permission issues. If the system is set with the nouserok option (default configuration), users may find that their second-factor authentication mechanism is disabled, thus allowing unauthorized access if an attacker knows the user's password.
