What is CVE-2020-27217?

The AMQP protocol adapter in Eclipse Hono versions 1.3.0 and 1.4.0 lacks proper size verification for incoming AMQP messages from devices. Although the AMQP 1.0 protocol prohibits sending messages exceeding a specified size, a maliciously crafted AMQP client can bypass these checks. This allows for oversized messages to be sent, which can overwhelm the adapter, leading to potential crashes due to out-of-memory exceptions.
