Summary

The Belkin LINKSYS RE6500 router is susceptible to a remote command execution vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary commands. This can be achieved by exploiting shell metacharacters on the goform/setSysAdm page, also enabling them to set a new administrative password without proper authorization. Users of LINKSYS RE6500 devices should upgrade to firmware version 1.0.012.001 or later to mitigate this security issue.
