What is CVE-2020-36856?

Nagios XI versions prior to 5.6.14 are vulnerable to an authenticated remote command execution flaw due to insufficient validation of the 'address' parameter in the CCM command_test.php script. An authenticated user with access to the Core Config Manager can exploit this vulnerability to inject shell metacharacters, leading to arbitrary command execution with the privileges of the Nagios XI web application user. This may allow attackers to run commands on the underlying host, alter system configurations, or gain complete control over the system.
