What is CVE-2020-37168?

The Ecommerce Systempay 1.0 system contains a vulnerability related to its cryptographic implementation. This weakness allows attackers to exploit the 16-character production secret key used for generating payment signatures. By capturing POST requests directed toward the payment endpoint, attackers can retrieve payment form data along with signatures. They can then use a brute-force approach with SHA1 hash comparison to identify the correct production key. Successfully obtaining this key enables attackers to forge legitimate payment signatures and alter transaction amounts, thereby compromising the integrity of payment processing.

Affected Version(s)

Ecommerce Systempay 1.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
