What is CVE-2020-6980?

A vulnerability exists in Rockwell Automation MicroLogix controllers where SMTP account data saved within RSLogix 500 can be exposed. A local attacker with access to a project's files may retrieve SMTP server authentication details as they are stored in cleartext. This could lead to unauthorized access to email functionalities, potentially compromising system integrity and confidential communications.
