What is CVE-2020-7931?

In JFrog Artifactory versions 5.x and 6.x, a vulnerability exists due to insecure FreeMarker template processing which allows attackers to execute arbitrary code remotely. This can be exploited by modifying sensitive files, such as the .ssh/authorized_keys file, leading to unauthorized access. The root cause lies in the DefaultObjectWrapper class that exposes certain Java functions to templates, enabling potential exploitation. Patches have been released for specific versions, and users are advised to upgrade to ensure their systems are secure.

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
