What is CVE-2020-8264?

A potential Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in the Actionpack gem version 6.0.0 and later when applications are executed in development mode. This flaw could enable an attacker to craft URLs that, when accessed, allow the execution of arbitrary JavaScript within the context of the application. Such an exploit could pose significant risks, particularly if an attacker successfully embeds the malicious URL in another page, compromising the security and functionality of the application.
