What is CVE-2020-9306?

The Tesla SolarCity Solar Monitoring Gateway prior to version 5.46.43 contains a serious security flaw due to hard-coded credentials. The Digi ConnectPort X2e device erroneously uses a .pyc file to store the cleartext password for the python user account. This exposes the system to potential unauthorized access, enabling attackers to exploit the weak security practices inherent in storing sensitive information in plaintext. Organizations utilizing this product are strongly advised to update to a patched version to mitigate risks associated with this vulnerability.
