Integer Overflow Vulnerability in MPEG-4 Decoding of GPAC Project on Advanced Content
CVE-2021-21834
What is CVE-2021-21834?
An integer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the MPEG-4 decoding capabilities of the GPAC Project's Advanced Content library version 1.0.1. The issue arises when a specially crafted MPEG-4 input attempts to decode the atom for the 'co64' FOURCC. Due to unchecked arithmetic, this situation can lead to an integer overflow, which results in a heap-based buffer overflow, ultimately causing memory corruption. Malicious actors may exploit this vulnerability by convincing users to open a crafted video file, triggering the overflow and compromising system integrity.
