What is CVE-2021-21848?

An integer overflow vulnerability exists within the MPEG-4 decoding functionality of the GPAC Project's Advanced Content Library version 1.0.1. This flaw arises when the library reuses the parser for atoms with the 'stsz' FOURCC code while parsing atoms using the 'stz2' FOURCC code. The unchecked arithmetic during this process can lead to an integer overflow, causing a heap-based buffer overflow and subsequent memory corruption. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to open a specially crafted video file.
