Summary

A vulnerability exists in the handling of the rc_service parameter provided to apply_save.cgi in NETGEAR R7800 firmware version 1.0.2.76, allowing network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code. This occurs due to insufficient validation of user-supplied strings before they are processed for system calls. While the vulnerability requires authentication, the mechanism can be easily bypassed, ultimately enabling attackers to execute code with root privileges.
