What is CVE-2021-28840?

A null pointer dereference vulnerability has been identified in specific versions of D-Link DAP series access points. The issue occurs in the upload_config function within the sbin/httpd binary. Specifically, when handling certain HTTP GET requests, the upload_file variable is found to be NULL. As a result, the subsequent strncasecmp function mistakenly uses a NULL pointer as its first argument, which can lead to operational failures or potential denial-of-service scenarios.
