What is CVE-2021-29337?

A vulnerability in the MODAPI.sys component of MSI Dragon Center version 2.0.104.0 allows low-privileged users to perform unauthorized access to kernel memory. By sending a specially crafted IOCTL (specifically, 0x9c406104), attackers can exploit the MmMapIoSpace feature to map physical memory. This access could potentially be used to escalate privileges, leading to unauthorized actions within the operating system.

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
