What is CVE-2021-3122?

The CMCAgent in NCR Command Center Agent version 16.3, utilized on Aloha POS and BOH servers, has a vulnerability that allows the submission of an XML document containing a runCommand parameter. This permits the remote execution of arbitrary commands as the SYSTEM user. Exploitation of this vulnerability requires a specific misconfiguration, allowing attackers to gain unauthorized access to systems, as has been demonstrated in active exploits observed in 2020 and 2021.
