What is CVE-2021-36386?

The Fetchmail mail transfer agent, prior to version 6.4.20, contains a vulnerability in its report_vbuild function which may lead to a denial of service. This occurs when the vsnprintf va_list argument is not correctly initialized, allowing long error messages from mail servers to potentially disrupt service. Although the impact on clients might be limited, this could lead to operational inconveniences.
