What is CVE-2021-41282?

A vulnerability exists in pfSense 2.5.2 that allows authenticated users to exploit the functionality of the diag_routes.php script. This script is designed to retrieve routing data through the netstat utility; however, due to insufficient input sanitization when parsing output via the sed utility, attackers are able to inject malicious sed commands. This can potentially lead to arbitrary file writing, putting firewall configurations and sensitive data at risk.
