Integer Overflow in strongSwan's Certificate Cache
CVE-2021-41991
7.5HIGH
What is CVE-2021-41991?
A vulnerability in the in-memory certificate cache of strongSwan prior to version 5.9.4 allows for a remote integer overflow attack. This issue arises when the system receives numerous requests with varying certificates, overfilling the cache and subsequently triggering the replacement of cache entries. Although the system aims to select less-frequently used cache entries via a random number generator, this process is flawed. This imperfection could potentially enable remote code execution under specific circumstances.
