A message handling vulnerability exists in HyperLedger Fabric versions v1.4.0, v2.0.0, and v2.1.0, where an attacker can send a specially crafted message with a nil payload to the 'forwardToLeader' method. Exploiting this flaw can cause any leader node to crash, disrupting the operation of the blockchain network. The developers of HyperLedger have acknowledged this issue and implemented a fix to mitigate potential risks.
