What is CVE-2021-4466?
IPCop versions up to and including 2.1.9 are susceptible to an authenticated remote code execution vulnerability in the web-based administration interface. This flaw arises when the email configuration component inadequately sanitizes user-controlled inputs, such as the EMAIL_PW parameter. An authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by injecting shell metacharacters into the email password field and triggering an operation like save-and-test-mail. This can lead to the execution of arbitrary commands on the operating system with the privileges of the web interface, facilitating a complete compromise of the system.

Affected Version(s)
IPCop 0 <= 2.1.9
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
