What is CVE-2021-44878?

This vulnerability occurs when an OpenID Connect provider allows the use of the 'none' algorithm, leading to potential bypass of token validation. Specifically, in pac4j versions 5.3.0 and earlier, the library does not enforce the rejection of tokens that use the 'none' algorithm unless configured explicitly. This lack of proper validation can enable an attacker to exploit the system by injecting crafted ID tokens with the 'none' algorithm, which violates the OpenID Core Specification. The attack could compromise the integrity of the authentication process, allowing unauthorized access to the system.
