What is CVE-2021-45470?

A vulnerability exists in cve-search prior to version 4.1.0, where the lib/DatabaseLayer.py file allows for regular expression injection. This flaw can potentially lead to ReDoS (Regular Expression Denial of Service) attacks, affecting the performance and availability of the system. An attacker may exploit this vulnerability by injecting specially crafted input, which could cause excessive backtracking in regular expressions, thereby consuming system resources and resulting in service disruptions.
