What is CVE-2021-46398?

A Cross-Site Request Forgery vulnerability in Filebrowser versions prior to 2.18.0 allows attackers to exploit improperly secured requests. By crafting a malicious HTML page and sending it to a victim, an attacker can create a backdoor user with admin privileges. This compromised admin account grants access to the filesystem, permitting the execution of arbitrary commands through the Filebrowser interface, potentially leading to remote code execution.

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
