What is CVE-2022-0652?
The vulnerability arises from Confd log files, which contain SHA512crypt password hashes of local users, including the root user, with insecure access permissions. This design flaw could allow a local attacker to conduct offline brute-force attacks on these password hashes, posing a significant security risk for systems running configurations prior to version 9.710 of Sophos UTM.
