Password Reset Vulnerability in Craft CMS by Pixel & Tonic
CVE-2022-29933
8.8HIGH
What is CVE-2022-29933?
Craft CMS versions up to 3.7.36 are susceptible to a password reset vulnerability that allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to hijack accounts. The attacker, having knowledge of a valid username, can exploit this flaw by sending a crafted HTTP header—specifically the X-Forwarded-Host—to the password reset endpoint. This manipulation can enable the attacker to reset the targeted account's password and gain unauthorized access. Users are advised to alter their default configuration settings to mitigate this risk effectively.
