Write-What-Where Vulnerability in Hermes Engine by Facebook
CVE-2022-35289
What is CVE-2022-35289?
A vulnerability in the Hermes engine, developed by Facebook, allows attackers to exploit a write-what-where condition induced by an integer overflow. This flaw can enable the execution of arbitrary code via crafted JavaScript, but it is important to note that exploitation is possible only if the application using Hermes allows for the evaluation of untrusted JavaScript. Consequently, most applications developed with React Native are not vulnerable, as they typically do not permit such evaluations. Developers should ensure their versions of the Hermes engine are updated to mitigate potential risks.
