Inflation Vulnerability in Chia Network CAT1 Standard
CVE-2022-36447
What is CVE-2022-36447?
A significant inflation vulnerability has been identified in the Chia Network's CAT1 Standard version 1.0.0, allowing malicious actors to inflate previously minted tokens on the Chia blockchain without restrictions. Any holder of the affected tokens can increase the total supply to an arbitrary level, undermining the integrity of the tokens and creating potential chaos within the blockchain ecosystem. This issue raises critical concerns as all CAT1 tokens on the Chia blockchain are susceptible, regardless of their issuance rules. Since the inflation can be tracked on-chain, it raises the potential for these altered tokens to be classified as malicious by off-chain observers, complicating their use and acceptance.
