What is CVE-2022-40617?

A vulnerability in strongSwan prior to version 5.9.8 allows remote attackers to exploit the revocation plugin. By sending a specially crafted end-entity or intermediate CA certificate with a CRL/OCSP URL that directs to a non-responsive server, attackers can induce a denial of service. This can occur if the server fails to respond appropriately following the initial TCP handshake, leading to resource exhaustion or unhandled request scenarios.
