Arbitrary Code Execution Vulnerability in D-Link DIR-2150 Routers
CVE-2022-40718
8.8HIGH
What is CVE-2022-40718?
Network-adjacent attackers can exploit a vulnerability in D-Link DIR-2150 routers running firmware version 4.0.1, allowing them to execute arbitrary code without any authentication. The flaw lies within the anweb service that operates on TCP ports 80 and 443, stemming from inadequate validation of the length of user-supplied data before it is copied to a fixed-length stack-based buffer. This oversight can enable attackers to execute code with root privileges, posing severe risks to network security.
