What is CVE-2022-4172?
An integer overflow and buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the ACPI Error Record Serialization Table (ERST) device of QEMU. This flaw is present in the read_erst_record() and write_erst_record() functions and may allow a malicious guest to overrun the host buffer allocated for the ERST memory device. Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to a crash of the QEMU process on the host, potentially impacting the stability of virtualized environments.
