What is CVE-2022-42125?

A zip slip vulnerability exists in the FileUtil.unzip function within Liferay Portal versions 7.4.3.5 to 7.4.3.34 and Liferay DXP update 1 to update 34. This flaw enables attackers to create or overwrite files in the filesystem, potentially compromising the integrity of the application via deployment of malicious plugins or modules. Successful exploitation allows unauthorized access and manipulation of server files, posing a significant threat to system security.
