What is CVE-2023-22741?

The Sofia-SIP library, a widely used SIP User-Agent implementation, is susceptible to a heap overflow vulnerability due to inadequate length checks on messages. This flaw, which has existed since version 1.12.4, allows attackers to manipulate the length of STUN packets, leading to potential remote code execution. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability through crafted packets, enabling them to control the overflowed data that is written to the heap. Immediate upgrading of affected versions is recommended, as there are no known workarounds available.
