What is CVE-2023-27596?
OpenSIPS, a widely-used Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) server, is susceptible to a Denial of Service condition when a malformed Session Description Protocol (SDP) body is processed. This vulnerability occurs when multiple instances of malformed SDP bodies are delivered to OpenSIPS configurations utilizing the stream_process function. The flaw leads to crashes in the server, significantly affecting system availability. The issue was identified through coverage-guided fuzzing of the codec_delete_except_re function. Users are urged to upgrade to versions 3.1.8 or 3.2.5 to mitigate this vulnerability.
