What is CVE-2023-28506?

Rocket Software's UniData and UniVerse products are susceptible to a stack-based buffer overflow due to improper handling of user input during memory allocation. Specifically, versions prior to UniData 8.2.4 build 3003 and UniVerse 11.3.5 build 1001 or 12.2.1 build 2002 contain a flaw where a string is copied into a buffer using a memcpy-like function with user-defined lengths. This vulnerability necessitates a valid user login, making it critical for users to update their systems to the latest versions to prevent potential exploitation.
