Contiki-NG missing NULL pointer check in IPv6 neighbor discovery
CVE-2023-31129
7.5HIGH
What is CVE-2023-31129?
The Contiki-NG operating system versions 4.8 and earlier are susceptible to a null pointer dereference vulnerability in their IPv6 router solicitation handling mechanism. This issue arises when the system fails to validate the source link-layer address option during router solicitation messages, resulting in the inadvertent dereferencing of a null pointer. Affected users are encouraged to implement a patch available in pull request #2271 or await the upcoming 4.9 version of Contiki-NG, which will address this vulnerability.
