RIOT-OS vulnerable to NULL pointer dereference during NHC encoding
CVE-2023-33973
7.5HIGH
What is CVE-2023-33973?
RIOT-OS, an operating system designed for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, has a vulnerability within its network stack related to the processing of 6LoWPAN frames. In versions 2023.01 and earlier, attackers can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted frame to the device. This manipulation results in a NULL pointer dereference during the frame encoding process, which causes the device to crash and leads to a denial of service. A patch is available to address this vulnerability, but no known workarounds exist.
