What is CVE-2023-34252?

Grav CMS, a popular flat-file content management system, contains a flaw in the GravExtension.filterFilter() function prior to version 1.7.42. This flaw allows validation against a list of unsafe functions to be bypassed when an array is passed as an argument instead of a string. Consequently, a low-privileged attacker with access to the Grav Admin panel can exploit this issue to inject malicious templates, potentially leading to remote code execution. Users should update to version 1.7.42 or later and secure their configuration files by setting the twig.undefined_functions and twig.undefined_filters properties to false.
