D-Link DIR-2150 SetSysEmailSettings EmailTo Command Injection Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
CVE-2023-34280
What is CVE-2023-34280?
The vulnerability in D-Link DIR-2150 routers arises from insecure handling of user input during the SetSysEmailSettings operation through its SOAP API interface, which defaults to listening on TCP port 80. This flaw allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary commands on vulnerable installations. Even though authentication is required, the existing protections can be circumvented, thereby enabling potential full control over the router's functionality. Proper validation of input strings used in system calls is essential to prevent exploitability.
