What is CVE-2023-34306?

A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in Ashlar-Vellum Graphite's processing of VC6 files. Attackers can exploit this flaw to execute arbitrary code on systems running the affected software. The vulnerability arises from insufficient validation of user-provided data length before it is copied into a stack-based buffer. Successful exploitation requires user interaction, such as opening a specially crafted VC6 file or visiting an infected webpage, allowing attackers to run code within the context of the current process.
