Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability in Open5GS MME by Open5GS
CVE-2023-37003
5.3MEDIUM
What is CVE-2023-37003?
Open5GS MME versions up to 2.6.4 are susceptible to a remote denial of service attack. This vulnerability arises from an assertion that can be triggered by sending a malformed ASN.1 packet over the S1AP interface. An attacker could exploit this flaw by issuing an 'E-RAB Setup Response' message that lacks the mandatory 'MME_UE_S1AP_ID' field, potentially leading to repeated crashes of the MME. This behavior disrupts service availability and could significantly impact the functionality of the network.
