Denial of Service Vulnerability in Open5GS MME by Open5GS
CVE-2023-37005
5.3MEDIUM
What is CVE-2023-37005?
Open5GS MME versions up to 2.6.4 are susceptible to a vulnerability that can be exploited to cause a denial of service. Attackers can send a crafted ASN.1 packet through the S1AP interface, triggering an assertion that leads to the MME crashing. By manipulating the 'Initial Context Setup Failure' message to exclude the essential 'MME_UE_S1AP_ID' field, multiple incidents of crashes can occur, preventing legitimate service availability.
