What is CVE-2023-37014?

The Open5GS MME software, specifically in versions up to 2.6.4, contains a vulnerability that can be exploited remotely using a malformed ASN.1 packet sent over the S1AP interface. An attacker can trigger an assertion by sending a UE Context Release Request message that omits the mandatory MME_UE_S1AP_ID field. This attack vector allows the attacker to repeatedly crash the MME, causing an interruption in service and denying access to legitimate users.
