What is CVE-2023-37022?

Open5GS MME, in versions up to 2.6.4, contains a reachable assertion flaw within the 'UE Context Release Request' packet handler. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted packets that include an invalid 'MME_UE_S1AP_ID' field, leading to the crashing of Open5GS services. By repeatedly issuing these malicious packets, an attacker can effectively create conditions for a denial of service, disrupting normal operation and availability of network resources.
