Weak json web token (JWT) secrets in CasaOS
CVE-2023-37266
What is CVE-2023-37266?
CasaOS, an open-source Personal Cloud system, has a vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to create arbitrary JSON Web Tokens (JWTs). This flaw enables them to access functions that typically require user authentication, and execute commands with root privileges on affected CasaOS instances. To address this issue, validation of JWTs has been improved in the patch included in CasaOS version 0.4.4. Users are strongly recommended to upgrade to this version to secure their systems. For those unable to upgrade, it is advisable to restrict access to CasaOS from untrusted users, such as by avoiding public exposure.
