What is CVE-2023-4232?

A vulnerability has been identified in Ofono, the Open Source Telephony stack for Linux. This flaw arises from a stack overflow within the decode_status_report() function, which is triggered during SMS decoding processes. The vulnerability can be exploited via a compromised modem or through a malicious SMS sent from a base station. Although there is a bound check implemented in the decode_submit() function, this check is absent in decode_status_report(), making it susceptible to exploitation.
