What is CVE-2023-42464?

A Type Confusion vulnerability was identified in the handling of Spotlight RPC functions in Netatalk prior to version 3.1.17. This flaw allows an attacker to manipulate memory by sending crafted RPC packets due to insufficient type validation within the dalloc_value_for_key() function, which is responsible for retrieving objects associated with keys in key-value pairs. If exploited, this could lead to unauthorized control over memory pointers and potential execution of arbitrary code on the affected systems.
