authentik potential installation takeover when default admin user is deleted
CVE-2023-46249
What is CVE-2023-46249?
The authentik Identity Provider permits an unauthorized attacker to reset the password of the default admin user when the user is deleted. This vulnerability exists due to the reactivation of the 'initial-setup' flow, allowing the attacker to set a new password without authentication. Versions 2023.8.4 and 2023.10.2 address this issue. As a precaution, it is recommended to maintain the default admin user (Username 'akadmin'), set a strong password, and consider deactivating this user to prevent unauthorized logins.
