SQUID-2021:8 Denial of Service in Gopher gateway
CVE-2023-46728
What is CVE-2023-46728?
The Squid Proxy Server is susceptible to a Denial of Service attack through a NULL pointer dereference bug, particularly affecting its Gopher gateway. This vulnerability enables potential attackers to trigger a crash or service disruption by sending crafted requests, which could stem from any Gopher server, irrespective of malicious intent. Gopher support has been removed in Squid version 6.0.1, and users are strongly advised to upgrade to mitigate the risks; those unable to do so should update their configuration to reject all Gopher URL requests.
