Summary

The tj-actions/branch-names GitHub Action is vulnerable due to improper referencing of the github.event.pull_request.head.ref and github.head_ref context variables in a run step. This flaw allows an attacker with a specially crafted branch name to execute arbitrary code, potentially leading to unauthorized access to sensitive information and abuse of GITHUB_TOKEN permissions. This vulnerability affects users of versions prior to 7.0.7, and there are currently no workarounds available. Users are strongly urged to update to the latest version to mitigate risks.
