What is CVE-2023-51640?

The vulnerability within Allegra's extarctZippedFile method allows for directory traversal, enabling remote attackers to perform unauthorized file operations that could lead to remote code execution. This issue arises from inadequate validation of user-supplied paths, which can be exploited even when authentication is required. Due to the flawed mechanism, malicious actors can bypass existing authentication protocols and execute arbitrary code in the context of the LOCAL SERVICE account, significantly increasing security risks associated with vulnerable installations.
